As my film is partly based on a relationship it’s only right I research common locations used during films but also common places we go in real life because after all, film is a reflection of life.
I started with rethinking over romance films I have watched in my 19 years on this earth and there has been quite a lot… Starting with one of my all time favourite films, The Notebook. Set in South Carolina, two lovers reunite after years apart. The film is basically a memory in which the male character is trying to make the female character remember, during late stages of dementia. The film is classic and based around the 1940’s. Some of the locations include the lake and a bedroom which are extremely common in romance films.
The next film that popped into my head is The Holiday with Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Jack Black. This film splits its time between two completely different people and how they fall in love with someone who is the opposite of them. The locations include typical dinner dates, coffee meet ups, bedroom scenes and Hollywood as always makes an appearance once or twice.
Dear, John. Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried. Another romance film with reoccurring scenes on the beach or on the Pier. This seems to be a very popular choice of location for romance films.
